The plenary session of the\u00a0<\/span>#EuropeanParliament<\/span><\/a>\u00a0approves by acclamation a resolution to harmonize the rights of people with autism.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the first time, the Eurochamber focuses on the more than five million people who are estimated to have\u00a0<\/span>#ASD<\/span><\/a>\u00a0within the\u00a0<\/span>#EU<\/span><\/a>\u00a0so that their rights are recognized between countries through the European disability card, facilitating free movement with supports and accessibility systems that they require, and also urges the Council and the States to implement policies and specific budgets to improve access to diagnosis, education or employment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many times, citizens see how political discourse distances itself from the issues and real needs of the people, that the parties are incapable of reaching agreements and that their priorities seem to distance themselves from ours.\u00a0Days like yesterday make us believe that another policy is possible and that consensus is also possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

This achievement makes me tremendously happy, and I am very grateful to all those who have helped build this text, have promoted it and have believed in it, however, this is just a new starting point.\u00a0It has been a long time of work that has brought us here, but there is much more that lies ahead so that what is now on paper becomes a reality in the lives of those millions of people.<\/span><\/p>\n
