The one which once had good a hardware configuration but now potentially outdated.<\/p>\n<p>Why not\u00a0<strong>revive your old computer with Linux<\/strong>? I am going to list the<strong>\u00a0best\u00a0lightweight Linux distributions<\/strong>\u00a0that you can use on old computers.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the distributions mentioned here are also a part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/itsfoss.com\/best-linux-beginners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"3169\">best Linux distributions for beginners<\/a>. So, you might want to check that if you\u2019re new to the Linux universe.<\/p>\n<p>While our focus is on older computers, you can also use most of these lightweight Linux distros on relatively new hardware. In other words, it can get your work done if you want to utilize a really old computer.<\/p>\n<h4>Minimum hardware requirements for Puppy Linux:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>RAM: \u00a0256 MB<\/li>\n<li>CPU: 600 Hz Processor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-button aligncenter\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"http:\/\/puppylinux.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"3210\">Puppy Linux<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Tiny Core<\/h3>\n<p>Probably, technically, the most lightweight distro there is. However, it isn\u2019t a complete Linux distribution for an average desktop user.<\/p>\n<p>Tiny Core simply incorporates the fundamental core of an OS which includes the kernel and the root filesystem. In other words, it features the foundation of a desktop OS.<\/p>\n<p>If you simply want a system to boot up coupled with a wired Internet connection, you can get started using it.
